HISTORIC KITCHENS IN CANADIAN MUSEUMSBattlefield House Museum National Historic Site Battlefield House Museum was built in 1796 and was the site of the Battle of Stoney Creek on June 6, 1813. The Museum's historic kitchen, with its open hearth, scrub-top table and tallow candles, transports visitors back to the early 19th century, when James and Mary Gage and their ten children lived in the home. The kitchen truly comes alive at special events and during educational programming, when costumed interpreters lead hands-on, open-hearth cooking demonstrations, enthralling both young and old.
