CHC Canada 150 Food Blog Challenge 2017<\/h1>\n

In honour of Canada’s 150th anniversary, CHC invited food bloggers to participate in our Canada 150 Food Blog Challenge. We named a topic for every month, and over the course of the sesquicentennial year, 27 bloggers posted just shy of 100 pieces exploring our country’s culinary history.<\/p>\n

The CHC is pleased to announce our top choices:<\/p>\n

  1. UrbnSpice: A Taste of Heart and Home<\/a>\u00a0by Denise Par\u00e9-Watson. Read\u00a0Celebrating Food Preservation Yesterday and Today<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0My Mom\u2019s French Canadian Tourti\u00e8re<\/a>\u00a0to see how Denise combines a strong understanding\u00a0of Canadian culinary history with excellent recipes illustrated by outstanding photography,<\/li>\n
  2. Signe\u2019s Kitchen<\/a>\u00a0by Signe Langford. Read\u00a0A Tart Tart!<\/a>\u00a0to see how Signe weaves personal and cultural history with intriguing recipes.<\/li>\n
  3. Canadian Literary Fare<\/a>\u00a0by Shelley Boyd, Licia Canton, Nathalie Cooke and\u00a0Alexia Moyer. Read\u00a0Granville Island Public Market<\/a>\u00a0to see how much this blog’s authors have learned about Canada and\u00a0its food\u00a0from their fiction and nonfiction reading.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The top three were chosen by CHC board members Carolyn Crawford, Sarah Hood and Sylvia Lovegren on the basis of the blogs’ Canadian focus, their historical content, the quality of writing and practical culinary information. They will receive honoraria of $100, $75 and $50.<\/p>\n

    Thanks to everyone who participated in CHC’s Canada 150 Food Blog Challenge; there were so many worthy entrants!<\/p>\n
